Abstract:

In modern microprocessor designs, thanks to the fast evolution of VLSI technology, media capability of video, audio, and graphics processing became a must-to-have feature. To accommodate such computation requirements, the media functionality has shifted from SW running on CPU to the embedded solutions on DSP and SoC. In this talk, main focus will be on media technologies, architecture, and its capabilities adopted by a real world processor. We will also explore history and future of media technologies in the integrated graphics.
